The charity aims of The Lewis Mighty Fund is to provide funds for the benefit of children with cancer at Nottingham University Hospitals and in the community.
The Lewis Mighty Fund makes a difference to Children facing a Cancer Diagnosis within the nottingham trust both in hospital and in the community.
The Lewis Mighty Fund however became amazingly popular with a massive amount of fund raisers and donations flooding in weekly. The Fund also did an amazing job of bringing much needed awareness of Neuroblastoma and childhood cancer in general to the forefront of people's minds.
Lewis and his family spent almost 4 years using the facilities provided by QMC. Lewis and his parents spent long periods admitted to the wards and to many families the unit becomes a home from home.
Since being founded in June 2009 the Lewis Mighty Fund managed to successfully highlight awareness of Childhood Cancer throughout Derby and surrounding areas. It also raised awareness of the fact Cancer does affect Children.
Many families will sadly continue to need the superb care and support of all the Staff based at QMC and The Lewis Mighty Fund helps to fund this very special place.
A childhood cancer diagnosis is one if the most devastating things that can happen to a family and places like QMC become the heart of a childs care...often long and lengthy treatment plans lasting years mean firm and loving relationships with staff is usual.
